DNS Server not responding

Hello,

I have Windows 7 - 32 bit operating system  on my laptop. Recently, I had to reinstall the operating system because of some problems.

Now, even though, I am connected to internet - browsers, (internet Explorer, Google Chrome), say I am not.

I troubleshooted the problem and it says, DNS Server not responding. So I did search on internet to solve the problem and found the site called Windows Club the  link is as below:

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-dns-server-not-responding-on-windows-7

I followed the instructions shown in the above site but towards the endwhen I came to Wireless Network Connection Properties box and  as per instructions, selected 1st box "Client for Microsoft Networks" and then clicked Configure,   it takes to a new box "...... Network Adapter Properties" and instruction asks to select "Network address" but I could not select Network Address because my Network Adapter Properties box does not have that option. In the instruction example, Wireless Network Adapter is Atheros and mine is Realtek.

I have attached two screenshots from the instructions to show you what I was trying to describe above. (Sorry, I am unable to paste screenshots on this site) but the above link will give you detailed information.

Because of this,  I could not complete the instructions to solve the problem of internet connection.

So what should I do?

Other question I have is -  how do I get to my router configuration?

Reply to my above questions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Night1

    Hello, Ratandeep

    Thanks for your reply.

I followed the link that you sent on resetting TCP/IP.

Let me see for few days, if internet connection is fixed or not after following the procedure.

    Night,

You may not need to set the option for "Network Address" those options are all based off of the hardware of the computer, you probably do not have this option anywhere and it is most likely not necessary to change this.

    Could you try the following?

In the article you referenced in your original post (DNS Server is not responding on Windows 7/8/10) look at the 5th picture.

In the DNS settings field on your computer could you put the following in each field, apply the changes and then try connecting to the internet?

    Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

    Alternative DNS Server: 4.2.2.1

    Hello, Ratandeep

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

I followed the procedure given in the above link that you sent me.

When I performed Method no. 3 in Command Prompt -

    Under -  ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew

It gave following errors in both of them,  it says as below:

no operation can be performed on Local Area Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected.

no operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected.

no operation can be performed on Local  Area Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected.

An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback pseudo - interface 1:  The system cannot find the file specified.

So now, what do I do?

    Reply will be appreciated.

    Thanks.
