Authenticator iOS and Android do not cross-sync from backups.

Unfortunately you will need to revoke/regen all your authenticator accounts when switching from one platform to another.

It is worth mentioning that this is a similar experience across authenticator apps - not limited to the Microsoft version.

This is not the same across all authenticator apps. LastPass Authenticator, for example, will allow you to backup and recover multiple MFA accounts. This is a major design flaw in Microsoft Authenticator. I am a Microsoft partner and have a large number of accounts that I am going to have to spend hours reassociating with my new phone. Microsoft have dropped the ball on this one, big time, and yet again, it's their partners who are paying for Microsoft's eternal focus on consumer and large organisations at the expense of their partners.
