Is pcsupportoffice.com a legitimate problem resolver?  I had difficulties loading McAfee antivirus and they came up and said they found lots of problems with my Windows 7 system.  Cost $299 to fix.  It appears on the internet that this company is connected with Microsoft support, but its ownership appears to be in Australia.  Does anyone know if this is legit or should I try to reverse my credit card charges and reset a bunch of computer passwords.

Sure looks unneeded to me, legit or not. May I ask how you came in contact with them?

Never ever listen to anyone that calls you. (Where did you get the phone number from that you called?). I wouldn't use McAfee if they paid me $299.00, but that's another topic. Since they had remote access of your computer, follow up with this as you do not know what else they may have done including harvesting passwords.

I was calling what I thought was a McAfee 800 number and it did connect.  Then I got a call back that said sorry you could not connect, but we can fix your problem.  They took over the computer and spent several hours running Malwarebyte.  They did get the McAfee to load on both computers.  Here is the text they put on my desktop:
