The error code (0x80508023) maps to "threat not found." It sounds like it found a thrəat, but when it tried to proceed with the action to clean, the threat was gone.
What is/was the fully qualified name and path to the file ?
Is: a thumb/flash drive, external disk in an enclosure, or a CD/DVD drive

Are you facing this issue during full scan or quick scan?
Try update Windows Defender and run a full system scan.
You may also run a full system scan in Safemode.

Be sure you empty temporary internet files and reboot the computer.
Internet Options> General tab> Browsing History> Delete> check "Preserve Favorites website data" then delete Temporary Internet Files. delete cookies, history, passwords, etc.
