C:\ProgramData\8288FCDE\updatesetup.exe Error

Hi team,

I am getting this error message at Windows start-up.

Windows cannot find 'C:\ProgramData\8288FCDE\updatesetup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

Not sure what I installed or did or whatever but this is now coming up every time I start the laptop. I've googled until my cows came home but no answers (see what I did there? haha). I've also run the windows update troubleshooter tool that said it fixed 3 problems but it's still giving me the error message.

My laptop came with Windows 8 and I upgraded to 8.1 8ish months ago I guess.

Any ideas or suggestions guys?

Thanks

Rob

While I appreciate your advice. I'd rather not roll back to a previous restore point.

    Thanks

To help you resolve your concern, we suggest that you restore your PC to an earlier point in time and see if it helps.

Disclaimer: Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

Let us know how it goes.

No idea to be honest with you. I think I had either deleted a program or was trying to install a program. It was a while ago.

Sorry, I have no other info for you on this.
