System process causing high CPU usage

I used xperf and Windows Performance Analyzer to see what are the components of System's high CPU usage.  I got this chart (here's the image with better resolution) that shows ntoskrnl.  Does that mean I have to live with it?  Or can I dig deeper to figure out if a driver or something else is causing it?

I don't think you have cured the issue or fixed the problem.

You have fixed the symptom of the problem which is not the same as fixing the problem.

You may want to read through either of these discussions to learn how to fix the problem:

Windows Update has been afflicted for many months.

For hundreds and perhaps thousands of systems the solution is usually very simple.

There are two discussions that should help:

Windows update problems?   Read this first.

    and/or

    Windows 7 Update Solution

Feel free to jump in to the discussions to tell of your success or still have issues or questions.

Looks like it had something to do with Windows Update.  Setting Important Updates to "Never check for updates" looked like it cured the issue.

The trace is here.  My System process is taking about 8-10% of CPU, which makes my fan run louder, and which it didn't used to do.  Thanks.
