Hi all,

I was wondering whether you could help, basically I would like to dual boot between the various Windows OSs using the configurations as proposed below, however I keep on getting a "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Disk is of the GPT style" message when trying to install another Windows OS alongside the primary Windows OS using one of the spare partitions.

4TB SSHD using GPT partition style

Disk No. Partition No. Partition Name Partition Size Current Free Space
Disk 0 Partition 1 System Reserved (Windows 10 Pro x64) 500.0 MB 167.0 MB
Disk 0 Partition 3 Windows 10 Pro x64 2650.1 GB 2.6 GB
Disk 0 Partition 4 Windows Vista Ultimate x86 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 5 Windows Vista Ultimate x64 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 6 Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 x86 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 7 Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 x64 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 8 Windows 7 Ultimate x86 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 9 Windows 7 Ultimate x64 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 10 Windows 8 Pro x86 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 11 Windows 8 Pro x64 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 12 Windows 8.1 Pro x86 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 13 Windows 8.1 Pro x64 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 14 Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Partition 15 Windows 10 Pro x86 88.9 GB 88.9 GB
Disk 0 Unallocated Space 8.7 GB 8.7 GB

Unallocated space will be used for storage expansion even though there isn't currently enough space.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

RocknRollTim

Me too Greg, totally agree. If you would like to know I too am a Seven Forums user and have been a Seven Forums user for the last 2 years. I may try experimenting with GRUB2 EFI to rectify the issue, I've got nothing to lose as I everything I need is backed up anyway.

Wow..This is more than dual boot. There are 14 different OS systems. GPT works only with 64 bit OS. Since some of them are 32 bit, than GPT can not be used. You will have to use MBR.

"Can Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 read, write, and boot from GPT disks?

Yes, all versions can use GPT partitioned disks for data. Booting is only supported for 64-bit editions on UEFI-based systems."

    Hi TomJeson64,

Thank you for responding back to me and will follow the link you sent me but I'm sure I tried converting one of the partitions from GPT to MBR using Command Prompt and adamant it didn't work, will try again later on.

    RocknRollTim

P.S. I should have named the thread Multi Boot Help as opposed to Dual Boot Help as it isn't really a dual boot like you say.
