Hopefully, they will base there new system on Unix Perhaps even FreeBSD Unix which is the backbone of Mac OS. Then perhaps would have equal Parity between Mac and windows. Because the underlying code would be the same.
When will Microsoft stop making more Windows
Windows 10 is the last Windows version, because it was announced by May 2015 that Microsoft is telling "Why Windows 10 will be the last windows version?" and when Windows 10 Support ends in 2025 will there be no more Microsoft Windows?

2016-10-28T21:28:56+00:00 Hi,
To add some to the other good comments :
Since there will never be a new version of Windows beyond 10, which will be continually improved during its lifespan, any new Operating System Microsoft designs will not be based on the Windows engine or concept. Of course it would be reasonable to assume the new operating system might have a Windows like touch and feel. However my thoughts are any new OS will have dramatically different or improved input and output methods meaning more like the concepts used in Star Trek.
We are the future,

2016-10-28T17:48:10+00:00 But Microsoft is not going to be making Windows 11 or 12 after Windows 10, but because Windows 10 is the last version of windows, there will be upgraded builds which contains new features and improvements, Windows 10 is supported until 2025, then there will be no need for Windows

When the need changes, and something new, completely different is needed, then there will be new products, to cater for the new needs. That is how I read the announcement last year.
