Missing LASTDRIVE command

My installation of MSDOS 6.22 is missing the LASTDRIVE command, even though it is listed in the help utility.  If I enter "LASTDRIVE=F", DOS returns "Bad command or filename".  The source is a set of disks I've had for years from when I used dos.  Any ideas?

Sorry for posting in the XP section.  It's as close as I can get to msdos...

Thanks.

    Hi, Tom.

As I understand it, SUBST just deals with virtual drives.  At any rate, it lists only drives that are set with the SUBST command.

I think I've figured out that LASTDRIVE=x just works, and silently, and only from within a config.sys file.  I thought there was a way to check, as in LASTDRIVE from the command prompt.  Apparently not.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Bill

Type subst to see the number of drives you have.

Also see if use lastdrive=g or i or z work. (z would be alot but want to test to see if it works. Afterwards, can change it.)

Side comment - DOS is more friendly than COBOL, which have to use every so often when get call in for a gov job.
