Hi All,

I get the following error when I am running a software called CaseWare on my computer:

JScript Engine Not Registered - Installation Problem (6:80040154)

This started a few weeks ago, I think it was caused by windows updates.

I am running a Windows 7 SP1.

I tried to remove the windows updates but the problem persists, any help would be much appreciated.

Since this issue is only happening on a certain application, we suggest that you run this application in compatibility mode. Kindly check this article for further information.

We also suggest that you perform a clean boot to isolate the issue further.

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

    Let us know the results.

    hi Xylee,

    Thanks for the reply.

The issue is only happening on 1 application(CaseWare Working Papers).

The software was working fine, I never had use or install a JScript Engine.

Yes I did reinstall the updates(KB3075226 and KB3020388).

I tried the following to fix the problem but no luck:

    Uninstall and reinstall the software.

Download and install Java runtime environment.

run sfc /scannow command and no corrupt files found.

    Hi Andile,

This issue may have occurred due to software conflict. For us to isolate the issue, kindly answer the following questions:

    • Is this issue also happening on other applications?
    • Have you been using the JScript Engine previously?
    • Have you tried to reinstall the recent update and see if there are any changes?

Kindly get back to us for further assistance.
