Windows Defender error code 0x80070718

When I open Windows defender (windows 10 home. version. OS build 1703 15063.332.) I can not scan or update.

When trying to scan I get:

Your PC couldn't be scanned.

Not enough quota is available to process this command.

And the error code 0x80070718

Updates gives me the following:

Virus and spyware definitions couldn't be updated.

This application couldn't check for virus and spyware updates. Check your internet or network connection and try again.

And the error code 0x80070718

I have searched for a solution and found nothing helpful.

    Is it a company-owned computer and does the company have an IT Department or a dedicated IT tech person?

    It is a home pc and the problem is fixed now thanks to Microsoft support.

    I was guided through a process involving system configuration, I disabled everything non-microsoft and restarted. It is updating and scanning now. Fingers crossed everything else is ok.
