I am a home user and I install all updates for my windows 8.1 PC.  I install

All optional updates. Is it safe for my computer to install the April 2017 preview of monthly Quality roll up for windows  8.1 for. X64-based systems (KB4015553) which is an optional update? I also installed the one before this one too.

Will these optional updates hurt my computer or should I keep installing them?   Thanks

    Hi Helen,

Based on the behavior of your device, there is a possibility of a corrupted graphics driver or a failing graphics driver. To isolate the issue, please provide the following information:

    • Is this happening to the options on the actual monitor as well? (adjusting brightness, contrast etc.)
    • Did you receive any error messages or any indicator that there has been a problem during the installation of the update?

For starters, we suggest booting the device into safe mode with networking and check if you can boot the device without any problems. If you were able to boot the device, update the device driver to resolve the issue.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any updates on the query.

Harmless update: Check https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/4015553/windows-8-1-windows-server-2012-r2-update-kb4015553 for more information.

I installed all the optional updates and after installing complete, it asked me to re-open to make the updates work.  Since then, it turned all black.  I waited for more than an hour but nothing.  I tried to close but it doesn't function well.  I pressed the button at the same time the one in the screen for few seconds and it closed.  The table became warm when it is open for a long time or if the battery is loading.

If it is a harmless update, what should I do?

    Please help me.  Thank you.

    ORDINATEUR LEN

    Hello Denis,

My computer is a Tablet Surface 2.  I can open it through the power button and the logo (Surface) appeared.  After few seconds, the logo disappeared and the whole screen is completely in black.  When you touch the Windows button, you will hear sound but the screen stays in black.  I don't know anymore what to do.

Thank you for giving time for my query.

    Sincerely,

    Helen
