Receiving the following error when trying to create a list from existing list (modern)

I'm receiving the following error message when trying to create a list from an existing list: "Action 9 (createSiteColumnXml) is invalid. Parameter schemaXML has invalid value. There are no lookup columns. the existing list works.

Any ideas or recommendations on resolving error?

HI @Angela Adams ,

Please check if there are some lookup columns(list column or site column) in existing list.

Try to create a new list from list template without lookup column to compare the result.

Per my test, even if I have a lookup column in the source list, I can successfully create a new list based on it.

The lookup column in your source list appears to be corrupted. Please check it.

Hi, @JulieWang-MSFT. Thank you for your quick reply. There are no lookup columns in the list. I did go back to the parent content types (they did have lookup column). Once i removed the lookup column from the parent content type, I received a different error: The provided action definition contains too many stages. Parameter name: scriptDefinition.

For additional context, this list has 4 content types and several views. Recreating it again would be a significant time sink. I would love to be able to save it (or the entire site) as a template, but that is not an option.

Do you have any suggestions for resolving / troubleshooting (that doesn't require recreating the list with all the necessary views)?

I suggest you remove lookup column in all content types then check the result.

This issue is related to lookup column.

@JulieWang-MSFT A Lookup column isn't the issue. I tried a different test......

If I change the Allow management of content types? from yes to no, I am able to create a new list from the existing list. Any suggestions on how to create a new list from the existing list with management of content types turned on? That capability is needed. I've reattached the error message in case you wanted to re-read it.

"Allow management of content types" has no effect on creating a new list based on existing list.

For your issue, I will suggest you to open a support ticket about it. It needs more detailed investigation with support team instead of simple troubleshooting via replies in forum. And we will appreciate it if you can update your findings here.

I'm seeing the same behavior. Creating a list based on another list. Same error:

I do not have Lookup columns, so the error cannot be from that.
My list has two contenttypes. (Item + a custom one)
I just disabled the Management of contenttypes, and the list could be created successfully.

I think I created a list successfully last week, with contenttype management enabled. Can't be sure though. Anyway: none of my custom contenttypes are copied over.

Hi I am not able to copy Microsoft list to a new list receiving these error

Action 1 (createSPList) is invalid. List subaction 38 (addRules) is invalid. Parameter outcome has an invalid value.
