my external hard disk keeps on ejecting and remounting itself continuously. i am connecting the HD to an USB extension cord which is connected to my USB 3.0 port. if i am connecting the HD in the USB directly(without the extension) then the problem still persists but not so frequently. this is happening for a particular HD. when i am connecting another HD to USB in the extension cord it is working fine but when i am connecting another HD the problem keeps on occurring..

We appreciate the detailed information you provided us regarding your concern. Based on your description, it may be possible that something is malfunctioning with your external hard disk drive since it doesn't occur on the other storage device.
Have you tried connecting the one with the issue to another computer to see if the same issue will occur?
