MS FS2004

It is outrageous that I cannot run my FS2004 with W10. Yes, I have tried many fixes like no cd etc. I have downloaded the version 9.1. When I click to run it I only have to click one permission (fs9.exe) and when I click OK it just sits there and does nothing. I have spent several hours on this. I have also left disc 4 in the tray to be sure. Hello Microsoft...

So, you have gone through the process in this order:

    a.   installed FS2004 and upgraded it to version 9.1.

    b.   downloaded the no cd patch for 9.1 (NOT for 9.0) (no need to keep the #4 cd in the drive).

    c.   installed the new .exe into your FS directory and renamed the old .exe.

    d.   you try to launch the Sim and get a blank screen or frozen main Menu?   Or does it stop working while loading the Sim?

    e.   have you tried right-clicking the .exe and running it as Admin?   If you're seeing a blank screen, maybe it's still loading without showing you the progress bar.   How much time have you given for this?   If nothing happens at all, have you tried to Alt + Tab in case the Sim is behind the blank screen?

    f.   could your anti-virus be causing the Sim not to start?   Try disabling it, at least for this test.

    g.  have you updated your graphics card driver?

Just a few suggestions which you may have tried already, but thought to mention it now.

Chirso747,  Thanks again for trying to help. I will answer your questions in the order you asked.....

    a. Yes version 9.1

    b. Yes no cd patch for 9.1

    c. Yes, renamed the .exe

    d. No, there is no blank screen. It just sits there on my normal desktop and does nothing.

e, Yes, I have tried to run as Admin but nothing is any different.

    f. I have not tried to disable my anti-virus but I am reluctant to do that.

    g. I just did update my graphics card driver a few minutes ago. There was no change. Still just nothing.

    Thanks again for your efforts.

If you go to your FS2004 directory, how many fs9.exe are there?   I'm thinking that your original .exe will be there plus the new one that came with the no-cd patch.   You may need to rename the original one to 'fs9.exe. orig', or similar. There could be a conflict there.

Hello Chriso747...Thanks so much for your reply.

I have reinstalled FS2004 four times. I have left the #4 CD in the tray to be sure. I have downloaded the no cd patch a couple times and have renamed the file to .orig a couple times. I have updated it to version 9.1.  I have clicked so much that I am not sure any more. Thanks so much for trying to help.

You may get a better response moving to the gaming forum.

Although there are many pages with users having the same issues as you (it seems) most people responding here are users like yourself.
