    Hi Samuel,

Device Manager errors such as Code 12 may have caused by a variety of factors such as incorrectly configured, old, or corrupted device drivers. Below is a list of troubleshooting steps to resolve your Code 12 issue:

Method 1: Code 12 errors are related to corrupt or outdated device drivers, and we suggest that you update your PC device drivers.

Method 2: Run Windows System File Checker.

System File Checker is a handy tool included in Windows that allows you to scan, and restore corruptions in Windows system files.

Method 3:  Install all available Windows Updates.

To check for Windows Updates, please follow the steps below:

    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Type "update" into the search box and hit Enter.
    3. The Windows Update dialog box will appear.
    4. If updates are available, click the Install Updates button.

Method 4: Check for Hard Drive Corruption.

Disk Checkcan identify and automatically correct file system errors and make sure that you can continue to load and write data from the hard disk. You can use Disk Check in Windows 7 not only for local hard drives, but also for removable media such as USB memory sticks or memory cards.

Method 5: Uninstall and reinstall the Windows operating system

You can reinstall the Windows operating system after successfully uninstalling it.

Please post back with the status of the issue. We will be glad to assist you further.

In addition to the information provided, this error can also occur if two devices that are installed on your computer have been assigned the same I/O ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, the operating system, or both). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device.

Before getting with the Method 5, we suggest that you try the other steps below:

Step 1: Automatically diagnose and fix Windows USB problems

Step 2: You can use the Troubleshooting Wizard in Device Manager to determine where the conflict is, and then disable the conflicting device.

    1. In the device's Properties dialog box, click the General tab.
    2. Click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. The wizard asks you some simple questions and provides a solution to your problem based on the answers that you provide.
    3. Follow the resolution steps provided by the wizard to resolve the problem.

If the issue persists, we highly recommend to follow the Method 5 that was previously provided.

    Regards.
