I have downloaded the VS Community installer, It completes the download of 75MB and then it crashes without showing any message. I had this VS community installed earlier but I had uninstalled it and now that, I am trying to install it. It is not getting installed. Please help.

Could you launch visual studio installer by running vs_installershell.exe under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer to retry your installation?
If not, please have a try with the following steps: open Windows Settings ( Windows + I ) > Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Windows Update > Run the troubleshooter, which attempts to identify if any problems that exist in your computer prevent your computer from downloading and installing Windows Updates. Then, restart your computer and delete the Visual Studio Installer directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer.
After this, re-download the Visual Studio from the download page: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/. Then, clean up your %temp% folder and run the bootstrapper file as administrator.
If it doesn’t work, I need your help to collect some installation logs. Please download and run this collect.exe tool, go to %temp% folder and find the vslogs.zip file, upload it to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

I have the same problem on my Windows 8.1 machine.
I had the previous version of Visual Studio 17 Community Edition working fine until I saw today that an update was available. Old version was 15.9.7 updated version 15.9.35.
The first update attempt crashed with a REGISTRY_ERROR and failed to reboot automatically. I rebooted, the installer started automatically, at some point Windows complained about the previous crash and asked me to send the information collected. I agreed to send the information and the message disappeared.
I let the installed proceed, and noticed that at around 1.46GB it was already unistalling packages from the existing installation before the full download completed.
A little later I had another BSOD with REGISTRY_ERROR just as before.
I rebooted again after letting crash information to be gathered, and this time I did not get a prompt to send crash info to Microsoft.
Installer stated again automatically and went into Verifying... mode and downloading at the same time.
I paused it, waited for it to stop completely, and closed it.
I now do not have even my previous installation that worked fine until today, so I can't work on my projects.
I read the instructions given to previous users with the same problems. I will try them but I expect another BSOD since there was nothing corrupted on my machine, and VS17 was working fine in the previous version.
Any other suggestions?
