Error Code: 0x803F8001; cannot reinstall Minesweeper

Minesweeper stopped working and I uninstalled it but it will not reinstall.  It gets as far as 'Acquiring Licence' then reports error. Other games such as Mahjong and Spider work fine.

I've tried these three suggested fixes but none of them individually or collectively make any difference.  I tried both with and without reboots between mods and trying to reinstall, all equally without success:

  1. Delete %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\TokenBroker\Cache
  2. wsreset.exe in Command window (admin) then uninstall Xbox in Powershell (using Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage), followed by reinstalling Xbox from the store (no problem)
  3. In Command window (admin) {PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"}

    Hi there Reed,

    I cannot help you with the issue but it seems to me you are not running any Insider build and thus entitled to 'MS Helpdesk Help'. Why not move your post there?

    Regards,

    Stephen

    I've also tried the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter which reported that the Store Cache and licenses may be corrupt.  It reset them but the problem persists.
