Updates & Security is missing from settings.

Hi all,

I'm trying to check for updates on a Windows 10 Pro (version 1703, build 15063.632) PC.

When I look at the  settings page I can still see the "Update & security" button but when it's clicked the "Windows Update" is missing.

The first option instead is Windows Defender, Has anyone else have this same issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Based on the information you have provided, considering that creating a new user account did not resolve the issue, then it's possible that the issue is with the operating system itself. You can perform a repair upgrade of Windows 10 using the Windows 10 ISO file. As mentioned by Andre Da Costa in this forum article, performing this can repair broken operating system files while preserving your personal files, settings and installed applications. Check the article for the complete instructions.

Note: Back up your personal data and files to an external hard drive, USB thumb drive, or cloud location (such as OneDrive) before you begin the reinstallation of Windows 10 to avoid data loss.

If you have any questions or things you'd like to clarify, feel free to ask.

Thank you for getting back to us. The possible cause of this issue is due to corrupted or missing Windows Update components. Let's try to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and check if the issue persists.

    Looking forward for the result.
