The backup files are from .tib mounted images with Diskwizard, which show as typicl Windows Explorer folders under a drive letter like F: ,but since I am transferring to a different PC all files in the backup folders have no permission to access and refer to the security tab under Properties to change file permission status, but I don't know what to name "object" when asked to name object.

Windows HELP gives some syntax examples, but I don't understand the examples.

I run into this no permission deal often with other of my files, which is a real pain, since it is not user friendly to manipulate my own files not shared with anyone else.

    • Have you encountered any error messages while accessing your backup files?
    • Can you send us a screenshot of the issue that you are currently facing?

Your Windows 7 question is more complex than what is typically answered in the Microsoft Answer forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro audience on TechNet. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows 7 Networking forum.

    Regards.

No, as stated the Diskwizard .tib backup filer is a backup from another PC hardrive.  I wanted to transfer some of those folders to my laptop. The procedure is to mount the image of the tib backup and then access the folder hierarchy in Windows Explorer.

I just need some instructions on any file that give the no permission to access message.  It directs to the security tab under file Properties, which requires object naming to get permission.  I don't know what object to name and how to name it. This pertains to any file with no access permission, regardless of where it came from.

Mounted image  just a typical drive and folder hierarchy, in this case F: drive with folders containing the files.

Allow us to verify, please provide the following information:

    • Were you trying to access back-up files on a different PC?
    • What is the current "Object" name listed when you try to access it?

    Regards.
