Anonymous
2018-01-09T12:09:56+00:00

So I saw that explorer.exe crashes often, and I have dumps available if it can help! I didn't do anything in particular, it just seemed to start randomly, could anybody help? Thanks!

Here are the part of the logs that could help, feel free to ask for more information if it's not enough though!

There is one third party module referenced in the crash and that is the nvwgf2umx_cfg.dll which is a component of the NVIDIA graphic driver:

*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for SHCore.dll -

*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for sppc.dll -

*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for wlidprov.dll -

*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for nvwgf2umx_cfg.dll -

*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for stobject.dll -

*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for wlanapi.dll -

    GetUrlPageData2 (WinHttp) failed: 12002.

    Probably caused by : explorer.exe ( explorer!CTrayToastInfoTipManager::Open+1f )

The other modules referenced are from Microsoft.

The NVIDIA graphic driver version appears to be 390.65 which is the latest.

Did the start of the problem coincide with updating to the 390.65 version?

The error seems to point to the system tray:

    explorer!CTrayToastInfoTipManager

    Try the following :

Click on the NVIDIA Notification Tray icon > Desktop > then remove the checkmark in front of "Show Notification Tray Icon" and remove the checkmark in front of "Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area" if it is checked.

Log out and back in again.

    See if that helps any.

In any event you may want to consider uninstalling and reinstalling the NVIDIA graphic driver.

Here's the link to one! I have many and they're all 300+ mb so I don't think my connection would handle uploading more!

Can you provide the dump files via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site?

You should submit this information to the Feedback Hub. Upload the log files to your onedrive and include Share/Edit links to the files in your Feedback submission

FEEDBACK HUB- SEND FEEDBACK TO MICROSOFT WITH THE FEEDBACK HUB APP <WIN><F>

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402156...

There are real MS staff and developers who monitor all submissions to the UserVoice forums whether you submit them through the Feedback Hub, or by using the Feedback command built in to some MS applications, like Office 2016, or by using the appropriate link directly

This next link is a wiki with a collection of MS UserVoice.com sites I’ve encountered (I’m sure there are more):

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

In addition, when you post a suggestion / complaint to UserVoice, if you have reached there by being guided while asking a question in a forum, please post a link back to your suggestion in UserVoice in the original Quetion. That way other people who see your original question because they are looking for the same fix can easily find your suggestion, vote for it and add supporting comments.

What is the make and model of your computer?

It could suggest you need to update your chipset drivers and BIOS.

I recommend you update the most critical ones: BIOS, Chipset, Display Driver, Network adapters.
