during the start up I get an MBR3 Error.

I purchased the computer 6 years ago as a prebuilt with Windows 7 home premium already installed but since then I have moved several times and my install disk as well as my product key have gone missing.

What to do?

Hi Tristan,

The issue you are experiencing may have been caused by a corruption in the boot sector or due to a software conflict.

To help resolve your concern, you can repair the boot sector by running these sets of commands using Command Prompt:

  1. On Start menu, type Command Prompt, right-click the result and then choose Run as administrator.
  2. Type or copy each command followed by hitting Enter:

bootrec /fixMBR

bootrec /fixBoot

bootrec /rebuildBCD

Let us know how it goes and we'll assist you further if needed.
