I recently bought a windows rt surface 8.1, I've tried multiple times to sign in with my Microsoft account, but each time I get an error stating it cannot connect to Microsoft services now and to search the start menu for network problems. Ive been able to sign into the windows store and Xbox apps just fine but can not link my account to the tablet.

We're still waiting for our engineers to finish creating a fix for this known bug in Windows 8.1. As of the moment, anyone who is experiencing this error may get the free upgrade to Windows 10 through this link. This will also work for anyone who wants to return to using Windows 10 after downgrading from Windows 10 back to Windows 8.1.

We'll be posting an update on this thread once a fix is available.

no this does not help, in fact I called you guys and was told that the RT servers are down, have been down and that the csr wasn't sure when they would be up and running and to try again later. this is really frustrating and I would like a better time frame since I cant use my Surface until this is fixed.

I'm having the same problem, and I can connect to everything on my network from printer to Xbox and the internet. But for some reason the surface running windows rt will not connect to my Microsoft account.
