Windows 10 mouse pointer dissappears

In the last few months the mouse pointer has been disappearing sometimes when the computer awakes from sleep mode. Most of the posts on this issue seem to be several years old and I have tried several things suggested that haven't resolved the issue. Restarting the computer always resolves the problem and it works for a few restarts and then it disappears again.

Things tried

  1. deleting touch pad driver and restarting

2)rolling back to previous touch pad driver

  1. changing the remove cursor when typing setting

4)editing enable cursor suppression using regedit

Does anyone Know the solution to this issue?

Windows 10 Version is 1709 latest update was KB4088776

    Hi JohnDRoe,

I'm Mark, stepping in for Leviozar to assist you further with this issue. It could be possible that this issue is due to a faulty user profile that has possibly been corrupted during one of the updates you have performed lately. While there is no known fix for a corrupted user profile as of yet, the best that we could suggest is that you settle to a new user profile.

    All the best.

I created another user account and then had to wait until the mouse pointer had disappeared after a start up from sleep.

When this happened I logged into the new account and after it set up the mouse pointer had reappeared. Then switching back to my usual account the mouse pointer was/is still there. Does this give any clues how to fix the problem?

Thank you for your response and patience. Creating another user account will help us to determine if the issue is only present on the current user/account or if it's affecting the whole device. Since the previous and present driver which is the latest update was not able to resolve the issue, I suggest that you get in touch with your device manufacturer for any workaround specially for the best driver for your device.

    Regards.

The machine is a HP pavilion TS14 laptop with touch pad that uses an ALPs driver.

It is a bit difficult to pinpoint which update caused the problem as after a restart it works fine and then and some point it stops working after a wake up from sleep. This could be the next time or perhaps 5 times later. It is probably an update in the last 2 months.

Rolling back the driver did not solve the problem as some time later the problem occurred again. Also  the issue date of the driver is way back when everything worked OK, Windows Update now declares that I am using the latest driver.

Which user account do you mean? Do you want me to log in as a Guest?

    Your help is appreciated.

    Hi John,

I would like to isolate this issue that you're having right now with your cursor. What is the make and model of your device? Do you happen to remember what was the recent changes made that time before the issue happens? Since you have mentioned that you rolled back to the previous version of the touch pad driver, is the issue still on going with the latest version? Have you tried to check if changing user account does the same thing?

We will wait for your response.

    Regards.
