Hello,

My computer is constantly playing the "device connected" sound on a loop. It used to be a little more spaced out, but now it's constant. Per this question (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_10-performance-winpc/device-disconnect-sound-happening-constantly/a90e56d4-2ffe-4acd-98d3-99532b3f8fae ), I tried to run device troubleshooter, but got error code 0x8000ffff. The solution found here (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_10-windows\_store/windows-10-windows-store-error-code-0x8000ffff/4bdf96fb-73b6-4bba-8dac-0a00056a67cc ) did not resolve the issue.

I just want the noise to stop. Help?

What is the make and model of your computer?

First, run the Playing audio troubleshoot - open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot

Scroll down, select Playing audio

Click Run the troubleshooter

When complete, restart your computer then check if audio is working again.

Press Windows key + X

Click Device Manager

Expand Sound, video and game controllers

Right click your audio adapter

Click Properties

Click the Driver tab

Is there an option rollback?

If so, click it.

Also, check to make sure the audio driver is fully updated. This is often the problem when you upgrade to a new version of Windows 10. Sometimes reinstalling the latest available driver from the manufacturers website helps.

Blessed silence at last! Thank you, Andre, that worked like a charm.
