Function keys and keyboard backlight not working after update

Question

after the most recent update my laptop keyboard backlights do not stay on even though they are selected to.  Also my fan now runs constantly and none of my function keys work anymore.

how do i resolve this as my laptop is now running hot when left on and my function keys and backlights aren't working.

no I have not received any error messages and have not made any software changes beyond the most recent windows update.

I have searched the topic but most things I found were for older updates.

I just don't understand why this creators update would change so much on my laptop
