Touchscreen stopped working

I don't even know if this is the right forum.  Maybe you can direct me where to look. Trying to fix. I have tried all the fixes & troubleshooters. Nothing has worked yet.  It looks as though an event on 11/2/17  may have caused the problem.    I have copied and pasted everything I saw.  It's a Toshiba Satellite C55t-c5300

Thanks,

stnkyjoe

Try removing the driver completely in Device Manager:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Reboot, download the latest version of the driver and install it.

Select the Start button, then type Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input in the search box on taskbar and then choose the top result. Select the Setup button and follow the instructions.

Type Device manager in the search box on taskbar and then choose the top result. Select Monitors and press-and-hold (or right click) on the name of your monitor. If one of the menu items is enable, choose that.

Repeat step four and then choose Update driver software from the right-click menu.

    Also, open Start, type: regedit

    Right click regedit

    Click Run as administrator

    Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch

    Set TouchGate value to "1"

    Exit then restart.

    If that does not work...

I am going to recommend you downgrade to Windows 10 1703.

Step 1: download Windows 10 1703 from the following link:

    https://tb.rg-adguard.net/index.php?sid=74a7cf5...

    Choose the following:

    • Windows Final
    • Windows 10, version 1703
    • Windows 10 Pro + Home
    • English
    • x64 (64 bit) x32 (32 bit)

Step 2: create a bootable copy

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...

Step 3: perform a custom install

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki...

There are some compatibility issues with Windows 10 version 1709 and certain hardware or software. There is no explanation why a lot of these problems are happening in Windows 10 1709, but the release is significantly flawed. Software and Hardware that once worked in previous versions, just suddenly stops working in Windows 10 1709 after an upgrade and sometimes loses functionality or stability.

Hi Linda. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Check for a newer Touchscreen driver on the PC or Display adapter Support Downloads webpage. While there check if there are other newer drivers to Update including BIOS, Chipset, Display, Sound, USB3, Bluetooth etc. You can take your time until they are all updated.

There is a known issue of incorrect drivers being pushed by Windows Update which requires rolling back the driver. Right click Start to open Device Manager, choose SD card device, then Driver tab, then Roll back. (You may need to unhide drivers from View tab)

If there is no Roll Back or that doesn't help choose Update Driver on device Driver tab, then Browse Computer, then Let Me Pick to see a list of all previously installed drivers, work backwards trying each to find one that works.

If necessary you can also go to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update to look for the driver under Installed Updates and Uninstall it form link there. Then you can hide the driver so it isn't pushed again using the Hide Updates tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

If none of those work try to System Restore to a point before the problem began: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t.... Make sure System Restore is always enabled for C with plenty of disk space apportioned (5-10%) in its Configuration settings.

As a last resort I'd install Media Creation Tool and choose Upgrade Now to do a Repair Install, which will also advance you to the latest version (which you need anyway) if necessry, by the most stable method: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
