Screen dims when losing focus

Hello all,

Yesterday, something strange started to happen on my laptop. Everytime I alternate between apps (or windows, if you will) the screen dims. It dims like it's about to ask me permission for something, and the mouse stays bright. I've searched all over the Internet, tweaked my power plan advanced options, and even messed with Regedit - it still happens. It gets really annoying when I plug in my second monitor, as one dims whenever I click the other. How can I solve this?

Regards,

Ricardo

What is the make and model of your computer?

How long has this been happening?

    Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed: 1507, 1511, 1607, 1703, 1709?

Which version of Windows did you upgrade from?

    Awaiting your reply.

Thank you for your feedback. Sadly, it seems that there are no updates for my BIOS and chipset. I've updated the display driver, but to no avail. It started to happen randomly, so I guess I'll wait until it goes away randomly again :/

I have not heard of this symptom, but I wonder if it is a "feature" (possibly newly revealed) of the Windows Desktop Theme you are using.

Go to Settings, Themes > Theme settings and pick one of the 3 default themes.

    Does that fix the problem?

It could suggest you need to update your chipset drivers and BIOS.

I recommend you update the most critical ones: BIOS, Chipset, Display Driver, Network

    Second option

uninstall your display driver then restart

Boot to the Windows 10 desktop

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Device Manager

    Expand Display adapters

Right click the current display adapter

    Click Uninstall

    Exit Device Manager

    Restart
