Computer shuts down when restoring previous version

Hi to whoever,

Computer froze while updating Windows 10 and needed to be force shut down, so I did so. Now upon starting it gets to "restoring your previous version of windows" just before immediately restarting itself, causing a loop that I cant seem to get out of. I can access the BIOS but nothing else, and both unplugging everything then waiting and simply letting it do its thing have failed after now 2.5 hours of troubleshooting. I am unable to reach the desktop so I cant boot in safe mode to actually system restore, and I dont have a Win10 disc to use to boot. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

Your concern about the performance of your device can be due to the changes in its configuration, broken/corrupted system files, and/or hardware related issues. Based on the details that you've shared, we'd like to know the following:

    • If you're able to boot your device up to the log on screen.
    • If you've received error codes during Windows Update and/or while restarting your device.
    • If you've made changes in the settings of your device prior to downloading/installing the Windows Update.

Using an ISO file can restore/recover your computer. You can refer to the Use installation media to restore or reset your PC section of this link to guide you through the process. We've also created a video to serve as your visual reference in creating the ISO file.

We look forward to your response.

Thank you for updating us. Based on the details that you've shared, we'd recommend performing a custom installation to restore/recover Windows 10. This procedure essentially reinstalls Windows 10 using an ISO file with an option to recover your personal files. To do this, you can check the post of Andre Da Costa.

Note: The Recover files and other data from the Windows.old folder section of the article will provide you the reference in making sure that you get to restore your important files.

Let us know how it goes after you've performed the steps.

I have attempted to use the Installation media to restore my windows, but it seems to not be able to find a restore point. I know for a fact I've created them within the last week andse no reason it wouldnt be able to find one. The option for "reset this computer" does not seem to be available, and startup repair/go back to previous version both fail.

I have attempted cmd bootrec /fixboot in all relevant partitions and recieve "acess is denied" in all of them.

I'm unable to reach the login screen, there were no error codes to my knowledge and I haven't installed anything or altered any major settings within the last week.

As my computer is currently in this state I dont have the means to make the Win10 iso file myself, though I will attempt to get a friend to do so.
