failed backup with error code 0x80070570

I'm using Windows 10 Pro and recently have become unable to create a system image using backup and restore. I get an error message that reads "The backup failed. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. (0x80070570)" Previously, this system image ran without difficulty. I have run multiple diagnostic scans without finding any problems that require repair. The backup will fail even when attempted with a clean boot. I'm also now unable to complete a disc image using Acronis True Image, which previously worked without difficulty. What can I do to be able to make a system backup?

    The exact same problem.

Are you even trying to correct this old bug Microsoft ?

Or at least give us usable diagnose tools and meaningful error messages.

You don't even try. A clean reboot is my best option, really ? what a shame

I'm not able to create the WINDOWS SYSTEM IMAGE USING THE WINDOWS BACKUP AND RESTORE. This isn't an Acronis True Image problem, it's a Windows problem that I'm asking about.

I get the error message "The backup failed. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. (0x80070570)" when I attempt to create the Windows system image. As I already mentioned, I have run chkdsk which found no problems. Also ran System File Checker with no problem identified. Also ran DISM and no problem identified. Still get the same error message.

Also, the backup will fail even when attempted with a clean boot.

As I said in the prior post, I already ran the System File Checker tool which found no problem.

Hi Jan-Kop, just wondering if you found a solution. My system failed completely after the 2/13/18 windows update. Finally had to resort to a complete reinstall.

On day 4 of trying to get my 2016 Dell Inspiron 5000 back to normal when I get the error code 80070570 during a Control Panel WINDOWS BACKUP AND RESTORE.

Now I cannot backup, create a system image, or create a bootable disk or USB drive.

Hoping you or others in community found the answer that Microsoft experts do not seem to have.

    Appreciate all - Linda
