Thank you for your quick response.  The file folder is located on my external hard drive.  My computer had to be reset, I was using the Windows 10 upgrade.   I have no idea what it put on here when I reset my computer.   My son-in-law went in and made sure that I am an administrator.  We tried right clicking on the folder and following the directions to own the folder from the FAQ but then I got the denied access message again.  I did notice that it changed the drive letter of my external drive.  It also changed my folder name for my user account.  It will not allow me to change the name, but will grant me access to the folder.

    Thank you for your reply.

To resolve the "You don't have permission to access this folder. Click continue to permanently get access to this folder" error, please check ninalank's post on this link.

Note: This will also apply to Windows 10.

We would appreciate an update about how it went

    Hi Alesia,

For us to better assist you with the issue in taking ownership of certain folders, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were you able to access the files prior to this issue? If yes, were you running the same Windows build and version?
    • Can you provide the exact error message?
    • What steps have you tried to take ownership?

We're looking forward to your reply.
