    Hello

    Thank you for your help.

The other account can add a new folder.  However when I try to copy the data from one user to another the system will not copy my original user data.

    This is what I did:

    1. From Control panel
    2. Select System.
    3. Click Advanced System Settings.
    4. Under User Profiles, click Settings.

    cannot select copy to option

    Regards

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

I wanted to know more about what's exactly happening on your PC's File Explorer.

Can you tell me how exactly the File Explorer locks? Does the screen hang? Are you receiving an error message when that happens?

What were the recent changes made before this started to happen? Is your Windows 10 up-to-date?

We'll be waiting for your response.

    Regards.

    Hello All,

This Clean Boot did not resolve the problem.

I still have the issue of not being able to create a new sub-folder.

Please offer additional information and help.

    regards,

    Kevin

Just to make sure, are you right-clicking on the folder? Or inside the folder? Does the same problem happens when doing this on a different folder?

In the meantime, you may perform a Clean Boot to make sure that no app is causing this. Clean Boot helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when running or installing a program in Windows 10.

    1. From Start, search for msconfig.
    2. Select System Configuration from the search results.
    3. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
    4. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
    5. On the Startup tab of the Task Manager, select the item for each startup item and then click Disable.
    6. Close Task Manager.
    7. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.

For more information about Clean Boot, you may check this link.

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

    Let us know the result.

    Hello Michelle,

    What happens:

       1) Open File Explorer

        2) Select a folder on my desktop

        3) Right click on folder and select option "New"

The folder then locks.  When I check it in task manger I see the message of not responding and I must restart windows explore from task manager to get my system to function.

    I have tried DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth and SCF /scannow

    These haven't solved the issue.

    regards,

    Kevin
