JNLP URL and Edge

When attempting to access a JNLP URL (e.g. jnlps://example.com/forms/java/jws.jnlp) in Edge, the first attempt within an open browser is successful (opens notification that site is attempting to open Java Web Launcher, and then opens javaws) but on subsequent attempts, it opens the URL in Bing search engine. Is there any way to prevent this behavior?

    Now I can reproduce the issue according to your description. I also tested in Chrome and find that if you manually entering the URL it will also search in Google sometimes. I think that's by design in browsers' address bar.

    It will search in Bing in Edge because Bing search is used in the address bar. I suggest that you can modify your Address bar and search settings in Edge like below:

    After that when you enter the URL manually in the address bar, choose the option with "global" icon then it will open the link instead of search it:
