Failed to initialize player?

Question

I keep trying to play a game on my ASUS laptop (Windows 8.1) however it does not work, it keeps saying:

Failed to initialize Direct3D.

Make sure you have at least DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for yo graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration indisplay settings

InitializedEngineGraphics failed

Help please because I'm a gamer and would love to keep it that way

Has it been working before? When did the issue start happening? What changes have been to your device since then? Have you tried following the steps provided in the error message?
