I keep getting the above error several times a week. It occurs when rebooting the pc, when pc wakes from sleep and sometimes when I am in the middle of something;  ie., surfing the web, watching videos.

Recovery

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired.

An unexpected error has occurred.

Error Code: 0xc000000d

You’ll need to use recovery tools. If you don’t have any installation media (like a disc or USB device) , contact your PC administrator or PC/Device manufacturer.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Windows 10 from disc and from USB a handful of times each thinking maybe the installation media might be corrupted but still keep getting the error. This is what I am working with:

Dell Optiplex 380         Legacy Bios Mode     Bios Version/Date   Dell Inc. A07, 6/13/2012

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz       4GB Ram         64-bit x64-based processor

Windows 10 Pro        Version 1709            OS Build 16299.251

  • I have 2 other Optiplex 380 towers with same specs which I have used for testing. I swapped Optiplex #1   hard drive (the drive with error code) to Optiplex #2 and it began to display the above error. Optiplex #1   has been running  without errors with Optiplex #2’s hardrive so I assumed the hardrive was the issue. I replaced the affected hardrive with a

Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB 3D V-NAND SATA 3.0 6.0 GB/s 2.5" Internal SSD and reinstalled Windows 10 Pro but still kept getting the errors. I switched the new

Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB 3D V-NAND SATA 3.0 6.0 GB/s 2.5" Internal SSD with Optiplex # 3’s hard drive and then began having the same errors with Optiplex #3 and Optiplex #2 has been running error free. At each step I have reformatted the drive and have done a clean windows install.

At this point I am assuming the issue is with Windows 10 Pro but would like to get some help if someone is having the same issue and has managed to resolve it. Everyone I have asked about my issue, and everything I have read online, recommends I repair my “Master Boot Record” using Windows recovery tools and/or installation media. Doing so is not difficult but having to go through the repair process several times a week is getting very annoying.
