Do you have any non-essential hardware attached during the restore? If so, disconnect them and only keep mouse and keyboard attached.
You might want to try using a different system restore point to see if that works.

Whenever I try to do a system restore my laptop hangs on the initializing page and never completes the restore. How can I fix this?
