Windows 10 1703 Update problem

Anonymous
2018-02-03T22:50:09+00:00

Hi,

I have been having a problem updating to the Fall creators version for a while now, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have made sure all my drivers are up to date, unplugged all usb devices, cleaned the registry, uninstalled my anti-virus, re-downloaded the update multiple times, used the troubleshooter and the update assistant, but the installation always fails at 45% and I am now all out of ideas.

I would really rather not do a fresh install if at all possible. If anyone with more knowledge than me could help out here it would be fantastic.

Following is the setuperr.log contents.

    Ciao,

I'm Ugo, a volunteer willing to help other Microsoft customers.

Regarding your question, you can try following one of the methods described below:

    1. https://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2017/10/upgrad...
    2. Alternatively, you can try the below: a) Start –> All Programs –> Accessories –> right click on Command Prompt -> select "Run as
administrator". Type net stop wuauserv to stop Windows Update Service.

Wait till you get : The windows update service was stopped successfully. " (DO NOT CLOSE

       COMMAND PROMPT).

      b) - Go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
       - Delete all files in "DataStore" folder

       - Delete all files in "Download" folder.

      c) In the Command prompt window, type net start wuauserv to start Windows Update service. Restart your computer and try to get update again (this should fix the issue permanently).
    3. Other 5 additional tips can be found here: https://windows10.help/blogs/entry/23-troublesh... 10-using-these-five-tips/

Please let me know if this helped somehow.

    Ciao

    Ugo

Hi Zen. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Try these steps for overcoming Version Upgrade problems: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

But remember that Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider doing the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

There is also an automated Refresh that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest: https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how-to-easily-...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
