I am running windows 10 home on an inspiron 17 7778 2 in 1. Mr lab top has been stuck at a blue screen that says getting windows ready do not turn computer off. I have tried everything I can find to do. Fyi I can not remove the battery as it is built in and does not remove. I also Do not have a disk drive to run disks. This is not a cheap lab top but I am about ready to throw it out the window. Please help

When I turn it back on it goes back to the same screen that says "getting windows ready, do not turn off computer"

This means that Windows is programmed to go into hibernation when the power button is pressed. It did not really shut down. You can get it out of this mode by first getting into the BIOS setup mode, then shutting it off from there. Getting into the BIOS setup mode is machine-specific. You need to tap a certain key very rapidly at boot time, e.g. Esc, F1, F2, F12 or Del.

Some machines with an inbuilt battery have a small hole on the underside. Sticking a straightened paper clip into the hole will reset the machine.

There is no hole any where on it to reset it. I also. Went into the BIOS and do not see any pertaining to turn the power off. Then again I do not know much at all when it comes to the BIOS. :/

Correct, there is no turn-off function in the BIOS. However, when you're in the BIOS you should be able to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to do a proper reboot.

Here is another thought. You could create a bootable Windows Repair flash disk (="USB stick") on some other Windows 10 PC, using the command RecoveryDrive.exe. Do NOT copy the system files. While in the BIOS, make the USB flash disk the primary boot device. When you now boot the machine from this flash disk then you will get an option to turn it off.

Pressing the power button for 10 seconds will turn the machine off.
