We appreciate your response. Some community members that had the same issue was able to resolve it by using the SFC tool and the DISM tool. It's not bad to try it.

That didn't help, no problems found, in either the SFC tool and the DISM tool, I restarted my computer in safe mode and deleted the files, then went back to normal operation.

It is pretty clear that people didn't read my information, my issue was not trying to play the files and having problems, single click or right click, to delete them was causing the crash. At any rate it is not a problem for me anymore, the files were there only as an intermediary file for some software I use.

I don't even have to try to open it, even to right click and delete the file causes the crash, do you think the suggestion you posted will help?

    Hi Earthshakergb,

A corrupted system files is one of the possible reasons why your explorer crashes when viewing an .AVI file. We suggest that you run the System File Checker tool and the Deployment Image Servicing and Managementtool to scan and correct any issues. System File Checker (SFC) is a built-in tool in the operating system. SFC checks for system file corruption. Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) is a command-line tool that can be used to service a Windows image or to prepare a Windows Preinstallation Environment image.

Kindly follow the steps in this article posted by ZigZag3143 (MS-MVP) to perform SFC and DISM: System file check (SFC) Scan and Repair System Files & DISM to fix things SFC cannot.

Should you need further assistance, don't hesitate to get back to us.
