Windows is slow and soem things such as the start menu, cortana and notifactions are un-interactable. After disabling and slowly re-activating services with msconfig, i discovered it to be 'Network Store interface Service'. Found a post about this issue:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_10-networking/network-store-interface-service/d49166ae-e299-48f4-820a-d590dc21ebb1?auth=1

I've followed all the suggested methods, all drivers are up to date and System File Checker gives the response:

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Would appreciate any help on this issue.

What is the make and model of your computer?

You can also try running the Internet Connections and Network adapters troubleshooters.

Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot

Select Network adapters

Click Run the Troubleshooter

When complete, restart the try browsing again.

If that does not work, you likely need to update your computer drivers for the adapter.

Press Windows key + X

Click Device Manager

Expand network adapters

Right click each, then click uninstall

Exit Device Manager then restart

Let it redetect and reinstall the drivers.

    Thx a lot Andre!

I couldn't do your first suggestion as I weren't able to interact with the start menu on the taskbar, but your 2nd suggestion worked.

If you still require my pc info, here it is:

Intel Core i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40 GHz 64 bit operating system, 16 Gig Ram, MSI Z87-G45 Motherboard and MSI NVidia GeForce GTX 980.

    Thanks again!
