Refresh notebook

Hello,

I have been having a few issues with my notebook and have been told to try to refresh Windows.

When purchased 18 months ago, Windows 8 was installed which I updated to Windows 10 online.

My first question is, will the refresh bring back Windows 8 (as this was installed originally) or Windows 10?

Secondly, what happens if I am asked to insert original disc, as I have none?

    Hi Julia,

This message mostly happen when your computer has remnants of your old Security software. Try backing up your files even if you are getting that message.

If it did not back up your files, we suggest that you check this link to fix the possible cause why your system is detecting Windows 7 instead of Windows 10.

Please keep us updated with this concern.

    Hello Nick.

Sorry for the delay and thank you for your response.

I thought that I would do a backup prior to the refresh, when looking at the information on the backup screen it states "backup for windows 7"! why would it state this if my system has been updated to Windows 10?

    Regards

    Hi Julia,

Refreshing the computer is another term as resetting it. When you reset your computer, it should reinstall Windows 10 on it if you are already currently using Windows 10. And resetting your computer doesn't necessarily need the disc that came with it. For guidance on how to reset your computer, kindly visit the link provided here: Recovery options in Windows 10.
