Recovery Service Vault in Canada

I am trying to set up a site recovery between the two Canadian regions. I am finding that no matter where I set the recovery services vault (Canada Central or Canada East), I get the same warning messages. I want to set the site recovery such that Canada Central will recover in Canada East. Both vaults that I have created, one in Canada Central and one in Canada East tell me the same information. If I select the source to be Canada Central, they both state that "The region of the Recovery Services vault is the same as the source region. If you are protecting machines across zones and not across regions, you may continue. For cross-regional DR, please select a vault from different region". If I select the source to be Canada East, they both say "Disaster Recovery between availability zones is not applicable for the selected region as there are no availability zones."

Since I want to have Canada Central as the source, why can I not set it with the site recovery vault I have created in Canada East?

anonymous user Welcome to Microsoft Q & A Community Forum. Kindly note below are the list of regions that support availability zones. If the source location is not selected among the list of availability zones, then you will be prompted with error "Disaster Recovery between availability zones is not applicable for the selected region as there are no availability zones".

Canada Central and Canada East belongs to same geography as Americas. When the region of the Recovery Services and source region belong to same geography, you will be prompted with a warning "The region of the Recovery Services vault is the same as the source region. If you are protecting machines across zones and not across regions, you may continue. For cross-regional DR, please select a vault from different region". You can choose source region from another geography for cross regional DR or you can choose to ignore.
