Teams External Communication

This is the scenario

We have three tenants one I can make settings changes too, in teams if I search for an external contact from one of tenants via email address they come up listed as external I can see there presence status and can send the messages.

However the other tenant I search for the email address I can see them however they are listed as offline they have a skype logo next to the name and I cannot send messages to them.

Things I have checked, they are using Teams desktop clients to communicate with.

There Coexistence mode setting is Teams only as is ours

External Access setting allows "Users can communicate with Skype Users" both of us have this setting ticked

Each respective domain is in the allowed list

Strangely even though I get a message saying they are not using teams via the mobile app ( I have verified they are using teams ) I can send and get messages via the mobile app to the user I have been testing with.

They can also see my presence status and send me messages via teams.

Is there something I am missing?

    Hi @Gareth Wynne ,

    I did a test in my environment and set the same settings as yours. I changed our Teams coexistence mode from "Island" to "Teams only". And we found conversation window (Image 1) shows "Due to an org policy change, you can enjoy a richer chat and calling experience ". Then you should click "Continue your conversation" to enter the new conversation window.
