Windows 10 Error Code 0xc000000e during startup

Hello,

I updated my Windows 10 OS few days back due to the forcible prompts to update.

My laptop went out of power completely yesterday and after that I get the error Error Code 0xc000000e during startup.

Tried many options like below :

  • bootrec /fixmbr
  • bootrec /fixboot --> Got Access is denied at this step
  • bootrec /rebuildbcd --> Total identified Windows installations: 0

The 2 TB SATA drive is not being recognized. I have important data in the hard drive, any ideas how to recover the data by a repair?

Spent a lot of time figuring this out without any solution and its devastating.

    Hello,

On a working computer, create an Installation media of Windows 10 that allows you to repair existing Windows Installation.

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-create...

Click Repair your computer at the first screen that says Install now.

Select Startup repair and see if the computer can boot afterwards.

I recommend you remove the drive, install a it in an external hard disk enclosure, connect it to a working computer then try recovering your files.

Or, try making a bootable of Ubuntu on a working computer, then try booting from it to see if it recognizes the drives.

I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Everything possible is here to start Windows: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

If nothing works then there is one last resort. You can use a bootable Partition Manager like Easeus to boot and shrink C by about 50 gb, then boot Windows media to Clean Install to the shrink space. This may create a Dual Boot menu that actually starts the old install.

If so then I help you remove the rescue install and recover the space.

If not you can set up the new install copying the files over from the old one, when ready I'll help you remove the old install and recover its space.

Otherwise you can wipe the hard drive and do this gold standard Clean Install which should get you past all difficulties as it has hundreds of thousands of others who have followed the steps in this link and never come back to report another problem: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
