Dear all,

I had to change my hard drive and I went to a local shop. They changed it and reinstalled windows 10. Now my Windows says its "activated using your organization"s activation service"

When I bought my laptop, the  windows / product key was pre-installed on my PC . I also have a Microsoft account connected to it.

My question is now. Is it possible for me to activate my windows with my Microsoft account or somehow else?

I only found the invoice from my laptop, but there is not a product key on it :(

They likely installed the wrong edition. You have Windows 10 Pro installed. You should reinstall Windows 10 Home single language.

Download, create a bootable copy and reinstall it.

    Step 1: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

    Step 2: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki...

When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows or receive a new computer preinstalled with Windows 10, what happened is the hardware (your PC) will get a digital entitlement, where a unique signature of the computer will be stored on Microsoft Activation Servers. The Windows 7 or Windows 8 genuine license you were previously running will be exchanged for a diagnostics key.

Anytime you need to reinstall Windows 10 on that machine, just proceed to reinstall Windows 10. It will automatically reactivate. You will prompted to enter a product key a couple times through the installation, click I don't have a key and Do this later.

There is no need to know or get a new key, but if you have issues with Digital Licensing or the Activation Troubleshooter, you can utilize an existing Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product key you already own to reactivate if necessary. or use the reset function in Windows 10.

If you experience problems with activation, do the following:

Windows 10 came preinstalled on my computer, how do I find the product key?

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Command Prompt (admin)

    Enter the following command:

    wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

    Hit Enter

The product key will be revealed, copy the product key then enter it

Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Activation > Change the product key then enter the new product key then click Next to Activate

If you are unable to activate Windows 10 after all the above and you are certain you have the correct edition installed, then please attempt phone activation:

We are volunteers willing to help you try to resolve this issue.

The shop used a system image instead of a conventional installation and/or KMS activation. If they had done a conventional install then your Windows 10 would have been activated by the Digital Entitlement.

Start - type in --> CMD find at top and Right Click on "Run as Admin" at the prompt Copy and Paste or type in :

    slmgr -dlv

Look to see if there is a "Volume Activation Expiration"

You can change to your Product Key, even the Windows 7 one, if you can come up with it. Check with the original laptop maker's support. That key may even be on your laptop at bottom or in the battery compartment or even on paperwork you received.
