MS Office 2010 Window Updates for latest version of Windows Pro

Still has these problems in April 2018 - manually downloading KB (run as admin) just fails with obscure error message.

Have tried endless patch, fixes and suggestions. Nothing works.

All other updates appear to work except for the list below.

This PC does not have SharePoint - but Windows Update insist on trying to update it.

There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:

    • Security Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553338) 32-Bit Edition - Error 0x8007006e

    • Security Update for Microsoft OneNote 2010 (KB3114885) 32-Bit Edition - Error 0x8007006e

    • Update for Microsoft Filter Pack 2.0 (KB2999508) 32-Bit Edition - Error 0x8007006e

    • Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553140) 32-Bit Edition - Error 0x8007006e

    • Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553347) 32-Bit Edition - Error 0x8007006e

    • Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2589352) 32-Bit Edition - Error 0x8007006e

    • Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB3054886) 32-Bit Edition - Error 0x8007006e

    • Update for Microsoft SharePoint Workspace 2010 (KB2760601) 32-Bit Edition - Error 0x8007006e

    Hi Marilou!

Thank you again for your kind reply.

I have been doing additional research on this problem and have become convinced that it is quite pervasive.

A Google search of "windows 10 internet certificate error" returns

     "About 4,000,000 results

Given that Microsoft is being further distracted by the Meltdown and Spectre  chip flaws and the patches that will need to be designed and implemented worldwide leads me to believe that this error will persist for quite some time.

I have decided to revert to Windows 7 Pro ... because it worked.  It will also be supported with Security patches until 2020.

Maybe MS will have fixed Windows 10 by then, or more probably, scrapped it for a replacement that works.

    Please cancel this help request.

Thank you again for your kind assistance.

    Hi Marilou!

Thank you for your kind Reply.

I followed the first Link, checked my access point which is a mobile Hot Spot - it is OK,

then I ran the Network Troubleshooter, it said I was connected to the internet.

Some additional clarification on the Internet issue.

When I open Edge it tries to go to my home page.

I get a screen that says “There’s a problem with this websites security certificate.  This might mean that someone’s trying to fool you or steal any info you send to the server.  You should close this site immediately.”

    I am presented two options;

    1. "Go to my home page instead,” or
    2. "Continue to this webpage (not recommended)”

if I choose #1, I am taken back to the “There’s a problem with this website’s security certificate …” screen

if I select #2 Google comes up.

and I am able to make a search entry which will execute.

I believe that when I try to use Windows Update or Update my AV they try to execute and will then “Time Out” because it will encounter the website Security Certificate problem.

I believe the Website Security Certificate problem is a result of an incorrect date and some file corruption problems introduced by the last successful Windows Update in October, specifically 2017-08 Update for Windows 10 v1607.

I don’t know what to do and hope someone at Microsoft will know.

    Thank you for your assistance.
