Hi Charlotte,

Error 0x8007007B means that the file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. A product activation must be performed before you can get and completely install Windows 10 operating system. To resolve your activation concerns, you can refer to this link: Error 0x8007232b or 0x8007007B occurs when you try to activate Windows. Once there, go to the “Resolution” section.

If you have an activated key on your previous version of Windows, you can still use it since it can serve as a Digital Entitlement to your Microsoft account. This product key can be activated to the equivalent version from the operating system you activated before.

For example: Windows 8.1 Pro > Windows 10 Pro

For more information, you can visit these threads created by our MVP Andre Da Costa for more resources about Windows 10 activation.

We also have a thread that will help you view your product key. Visit this thread: View your product key and look for the post of our MVP Andre Da Costa. You will need to open Windows PowerShell to enter this command.

Let us know if you need more help.
