My computer locked up on me about 2 hrs ago.  I received an on screen message with a phone number, 1-833-327-2888 to contact to open my computer or it would be locked because my computer was attacked with a virus.,  They claimed to be a microsoft tech support but they asked for my computer ID and permission to remote in and fix the problem for a fee, $299.  I fear I may have been scammed.  The company is RevwireTech.  Has anyone reported these people as a scam?

If you allowed remote access, you do have issues.

It's a common scam that you could have ended with the Task Manager. Now you must consider everything on your computer has been compromised. Passwords, PIN numbers, financial account information. A clean install of Windows is the best option and what I would do myself. See the following and decide if you want to tempt fate not knowing what they may have installed on your computer.

Have rec'd this same call (different number on occasion)  They gave a bunch of the gobbly gook they do in an attempt to scare you.  Did it once and the played around in the system said they found the problem and would now turn me over to the tech to fix it.  Tech came on and basically the first thing out his mouth was we have this PC protection plan that starts at $1500.00 or the best one at over $3000.00.   Told the individual where he could stick it and hung up on him.  Have received the calls periodically and the last one I talked to the guy and he said he was only there to forward the calls.    This is a scam:   use Ctrl-Alt-delete to break the connection.  You will be signed out but at least you get rid of the lying noise.
