How to obtain and download for older MSSQL CU version?

Dear All,

We would like to update our Database services Cumulative Patches from "CU2" to "CU7" based on MSSQL Server 2012 SP1, but we cannot find the download link.

We already went through MS KB2894115. In the section 'How to obtain', it mentioned that >>> If the "Hotfix Request" page doesn't appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the cumulative update package.

We also checked an available download software via 'https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/', but only SQL Server 2012 SP2/SP3 are available to download there.

Moreover, we already called and raised a MS help desk ticket but they informed us to open a ticket via 'Microsoft Business Department' which requires "MS Enterprise ID/Subscription" in order to create a ticket. We do not have an owned Subscription/account since our SQL Server licensing are bundled with SAP Product licensing.

Besides, we also raised a ticket to SAP Support to request the software, but SAP official site refers that we need to contact to Microsoft Directly to request the software.

The reason we need to update patch to this specific CU patch version is that our SAP DB MSSQL systems were attacked by Ransomware. We managed to recover some servers from the backup and rebuild somes. At this point, we need our Database version to be exact the same version through all system Landscapes (DEV-QAS-PRD).

At this point, could you please help advise where & how we can obtain the CU7-patch for MSSSQL 2012 SP1?

We are stuck at this issue over 3 days, raising more than 5 tickets and 2 calls but without any luck. Please help.

Additional information for ref:
Current DB version > Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP1) - 11.0.3339.0 (X64)
SAP KB > 62988 - Service packs for MS SQL Server

Best Regards,
Roong c.

Microsoft only offers the latest SP and the latest CU for download, even because it won't make sense to offer older ones if newer esists.
And for SQL Server 2012 it is services pack 4, so install that one.
BTW, MS supports only products on the latest SP.

I understand your requirement but unfortunately that is not publicly available as far as my search goes. Let me see if someone from MS has that stored somewhere or is there any option to get this CU by other means. I will get back to you.

MS does not support those versions anymore.

Your best option is to install the last SQL 2012 SP4.

I am not sure that I understand why you need to be that particular version. An MVP colleage found https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=sql+server+2012+service+pack+1, and on that page the one labeled KB2977325 seems to be between CU11 and CU12. Would be possible to work with that one instead?

    Hi @Roong C ,

Microsoft only provide latest CU for download, we suggest that you can update SQL Server 2012 SP1 to SQL Server 2012 SP4. Please refer to KB2894115 - Cumulative update package 7 for SQL Server 2012 SP1 to get more information about it.

    Best regards,
    Carrin
