When I try to update windows 10, I am getting an error code 0x80027efd. Then I tried to run the windows update troubleshooter and I received the following error code 0x803C0103. I tried disabling my McAfee firewall and real time scanning, but it did not help. Could someone please help me resolve these errors?

Running the Windows Update troubleshooter from the article you linked, it first prompted me to run as Administrator, then checked for pending updates, then said:  "An unexpected error has occurred. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue."

I downloaded the specific KB4090914 patch from the catalog, which also failed as I specified above.

I downloaded the most recent KB4093107 and it failed with: "The update is not applicable to your computer."

I ran the fix for windows file corruption, and that seems to have fixed it - I can run Windows Updates now. Thank you!

I have the same issue. I downloaded KB4090914 as instructed, but when I run it I get:

Update for Windows (KB4090914) is already installed on this computer.

    What else can I try?

    Hello Carol,

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

    • Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:
    1. Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
    2. Click OK.

There are many reasons why you might receive an error message when updating on Windows 10, but common errors can be fixed by following the steps below:

Method 1: Download the most recent Servicing Stack Update (SSU)

    1. Determine whether you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit system of Windows:1.1. Go to Start, choose Settings.

1.2. Select System, then click About.2. Download the version of the latest SSU (KB4090914) that matches your version of Windows from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

    1. Restart your device and check for updates.

Method 2: Manually download and install the KB update using Microsoft Update Catalog

    1. Go to Start, choose Settings and select Update & Security > Windows Update > Update history page.
    2. Find the most recent update KB for the version of Windows 10 you have – it’s usually at the top of the list – and either write 3. the KB number down or copy it.
    3. Go to the Microsoft Update site and search for the KB number.
    4. Select the link for the download, and then choose Download. Select Save if you are prompted.
    5. When the download completes, select Open to start the update.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.
